Emerald Cut Fluorite Drop Necklace

This necklace is so pretty, but it's kind of funky too. I got this tricolor 14mm x 10mm fluorite about 10 years ago. Fluorite is a relatively soft stone so much skill, time and concentration is required to bezel set them. While I have set them before, even in the tough emerald cut, I have so many easier shapes to work with that this one sat and waited. Then I had the idea to drill it into a bead, eliminating the need to set it. Amazingly, I accomplished the hand drilling successfully, without the use of a drill press. I was so happy that it is even straight! I am one of those people who can't cut paper in a straight line to save my life!

I have tried to drill some more since this one, and have broken them all! So I believe I had beginner's luck when I did this one, and most likely will not accomplish it again. It is strung with rich purple color enhanced fresh water cultured pearls, smooth spiral bi and tri color fluorite tube beads and tiny rhodolite garnet accents. I like the juxtaposition of the organic curvilinear feel of the fluorite tube beads and pearls against the rigidity and geometric emerald cut of the focal fluorite. I think that's what I mean by "funky." It is strung with a 14k lobster claw clasp to about 16 inches in length on a durable synthetic fiber that moves like silk but doesn't stretch, shred or fray like silk.

Ocean

I designed this unique line of necklaces that mixes unusual pieces of jasper with sparkly facetted gemstones.

I LOVE this jasper. It reminds me of the Jersey shore, mostly blue with some swirls of brown froth. Hey I can say that! (Born and raised in Jersey affords me some freedom.) Since it has a lot of pastel blue green, I used jasper, turquoise, and amazonite beads to play off the colors in the pendant stone. It is strung to 19.75” on a durable synthetic string that moves like silk but won’t shred, stretch, or fray like silk. The clasp is a sterling silver spring ring.

14k Infinity Necklace in Opal and Rainbow Moonstone

This 8.5mm x 7mm roval cut opal (roval is not quite round and not quite oval) and 5.5mm princess cut moonstone infinity necklace is a one of a kind. I like the shape of the smile bar as it is a little different to accentuate the princess cut moonstone on top. The facetted beads are incredibly sparkly light blue topaz.

This piece would be great with a tan so all of you sun worshipers please take special notice! It is strung with a 14k lobster claw clasp to about 17 inches in length on a durable synthetic fiber that moves like silk but doesn't stretch, shred or fray like silk.

14k Infinity Necklace with Pink Sapphire and Blue Zircon on Blue Zircon and Spinels

This is another one of those pieces which combines great materials. The pretty, baby pink and blue colors of the pendant are grounded by the deeper, richer tones in the spinel beads however, the tiny scale of the beads allow the deeper colors to compliment the small scale of the pendant instead of overwhelm it. A lot of thought goes into each design. Sometimes I ponder for days on color choices and scale. There is a delicate balance between the two elements of design. The pink sapphire is 4.5mm and the blue zircon is 5.5mm. It is strung with a 14k lobster claw clasp to about 17" inches in length on a durable synthetic fiber that moves like silk but doesn't stretch, shred or fray like silk.

The Big Apple

The glass bead in this necklace was made by Lisa Joy Sachs of Sachs Design based in Maryland. This is the coolest glass bead I've ever seen and it is a one of a kind. I have accentuated the color combinations by stringing it with facetted peridot briolettes and teal blue chalcedony. There is a sterling silver headpin holding the bead, but all other metal is 14k gold. This is a fun and whimsical look, and the scale is a tad chunkier than my usual style. The bead is about 1inch x 7/8 inch. It is strung with a 14k lobster claw clasp to about 18.5 inches in length on a durable synthetic fiber that moves like silk but doesn't stretch, shred or fray like silk.

This is a long strand measuring 22 ¼ inches of the most sparkley tiny dancing sapphire briolettes in a predominantly blue and pink color mix, but all colors are included, incorporated subtly into the mix.
