Valentine’s Necklace 2006
Every year I make one Valentine Necklace. The colors of this year’s pick are soft and romantic. The Pendant is a 26mm x 10mm Australian opal bead that has a peach body color with some boulder showing through one side. The tan/brown boulder and the peach body color work well together. When it catches the light it flashes teal, purple, and a hint of green.

I’ve chosen color enhanced freshwater cultured peach and plum pearls to mimic the stone’s body color and fine facetted blue zircons and deep amethyst to tie in the opalescence. It’s a simple design in which the pattern repeats about every three inches. The full length is 17.5 inches.

Bear Track
A friend named this piece for me. She said it resembles the Native American symbol for bear track, which is a good omen. The “palm” is a gorgeous 19mm x 10mm boulder opal with intense teal green, purple, blue, and violet broad flash. It is oriented to flash when worn because of the curvature of the chest. The “fingers” are amethyst, gorgeous blue green tourmaline, and rare tsavorite garnet. They are each approximately 9mm x 5mm facetted pear shapes. The bezels are all hand formed and fabricated of 22k gold, with 14k gold underbezels.

The “chain” is all gold wave beads with a flower and gold ball segment between each bead that adds beauty and makes it lie properly. It is a signed piece with a lobster claw clasp, strung on a durable synthetic string that moves like silk but won’t shred, stretch, or fray like silk.

Picture Jasper Dangles
These are unique dangling agate earrings in 14k gold. The agates are about 21mm at their widest point by 23mm in length. The earring finding itself is a “secura clip.” It is like a lever back, but it actually has a clasp to ensure you don’t loose them. Contemporary Necklace
This beautiful ammolite opal has purple and blue flash, which is the most uncommon ammolite opal color. Ammolite is opalized ammonite fossil from Southern Alberta, Canada. It is millions of years old but was only discovered in the early 1980s. The Ammolite is teamed up with the most royal of African Amethyst I’ve ever seen. The bezels of these large stones are 22k gold.
