Magical Opal Ring

This ring has been in my private collection for quite some time because I could not part with the opal. This sort of attachment does not happen to me often, therefore, this ring is highly prized.

I'm ready to part with it because I don't actually wear any rings except for my Byzantine and Wedding set. I feel someone who will wear it everyday should love and own this magical ring. Wait until you see the fierce colors, reds and obscure magenta flash in this opal!

Ice Sea Glass

Boy-oh-boy, it is hard to drill through a piece of sea glass without breaking the piece in two! I have “set” three 2.5mm stones into the sea glass. They each have a tiny 14k gold bezel. The stones are peridot, citrine, and amethyst. They fit through tension and compression but I added a touch of jeweler’s cement for added security. This is truly unique. It is on an 18 1/8” sterling silver beaded chain. The measurement of this pendant is 1 3/8” x 1 5/8” It has a large elongated bail so I think you could switch out the chain if you wanted. I hope you like this new style.

Adjustable Bottle Green Ring

Since opening my showroom in Bar Harbor, I’ve learned that sea glass jewelry is in high demand. I love the stuff, but have intentionally stayed away from it because I used to apprentice with a woman who made it her trademark. At the time, not so many designers were making jewelry with it. We live on the same island. Therefore, I kept my distance from the material for 15 years. Last fall, I went on a field trip visiting galleries on my own Island and throughout Downeast Maine. I quickly realized that there is a lot of sea glass jewelry made in all kinds of styles by many different artists now. The woman I worked with is fully established (wildly successful) and so I feel free to offer you at long last, my Bar Harbor collection.

Did you know it takes the ocean roughly 40 years to make a well-rounded piece of sea glass? Did you know that with all of the recycling we now do, the sea glass is not being replenished? So it’s ironic when you consider that this beautiful, natural bi-product of littering (lets be realistic after-all) could actually be mined out! It is getting harder and harder to find nice sea glass. All of my glass is from Maine or Prince Edward Island in Canada. Our family’s very own Katy Perry (David’s Grammie), writer extraordinaire, found these pieces.

Those of you who have been with me from the beginning know I used to “specialize” in rings. One of the reasons I went on this decade long necklace binge is because sizing necklaces is easier than sizing rings. To size a soldered ring you have to heat it. Since I bezel set everything that means taking the stones out of the bezels. Well once I set them in there, they really are in there; there is a serious risk of cracking the stones just trying to remove them from the bezel. So the reason I am telling you all of this is because I have tried to make an adjustable ring. This is sort of the prototype so I am showing you the front and the back. It is a cute bottle-green sea glass ring. The glass in this piece measures about ½” square. This ring is adjustable from about a 4.5 to about a 7.5

Valentine 2009

Perhaps this one should be titled, Do I Need Glasses? These are the tiniest micro-facetted garnets I’ve ever laid eyes on. I can’t believe I actually got a wire through them! It was a labor of Love. The jasper focal bead has swirls of pink, lilac, tan, and red that is both subtle and charming.

Gorgeous in Person

So I’m sorry that I didn’t get a good photo of this piece, please believe me that it is so dramatic and beautiful in person. If you need something in pink, this might be the one for you. It has rich pink freshwater-cultured pearls with jet, black pebbles and rhodolite garnet accents. The jet pebbles ground this design which has a white jasper teamed with a sizable rhodonite round bead underneath. It is strung on a durable, flexible wire to just under 16 ¾” with a soldered spring ring clasp. Take a chance on this one-money back guarantee since the photo is so lousy.

Nice Save

So it’s ironic when you consider that this beautiful, natural bi-product of littering (lets be realistic after-all) could actually be mined out! It is getting harder and harder to find nice sea glass. All of my glass is from Maine or Prince Edward Island in Canada. Our family’s very own Katy Perry (David’s Grammie), writer extraordinaire, found these pieces.

This piece has a sweet cobalt blue piece of sea glass teamed with a gorgeous piece of abalone and a fresh water, cultured color enhanced pearl accent. The whole piece is solid sterling, even the back. The pendant measures 1 5/8” x ¾” long. It is permanently on a 20.5” sterling figure-eight chain with color-enhanced blue pearl accents.

PS. If you’re wondering how I got the title, “Nice Save” it is because originally the bottom bezel was made for a second piece of sea glass but just before setting the glass, I dropped the setting and the glass broke! Now when you’ve gone through that much work to create a one-of-a-kind piece in precious metal and you are in the final stretch, it is heartbreaking. Luckily, Pete (Dave’s Dad) gave me a bag of abalone he has in his barn for God-knows how long. One of the pieces happened to fit perfectly into the weird bezel. Now the odds of a stone being the exact size and shape to fit into that freeform bottom bezel are about a gazillion to 1, so I think there was some divine intervention involved because the design is also superior to the original concept as well. I guess you’d call it one of those happy mistakes. Hence, the title, “Nice Save.”

Peach Tourmaline Wave Earrings in 14K Gold

I love these earrings! This color is so bright and kicky! I can't stress enough how large and beautiful this pair of tourmalines is and how hard it is to find such a great match of huge AAA quality tourmalines. It is the perfect pair of earrings to wear with the Tourmaline Tiara Wave Necklace!

Continents-14k Watermelon Tourmaline Slice Dangle Earrings

The stones in these earrings are cross-sections of a watermelon tourmaline crystal. They are called Watermelon tourmaline slices. I really like this pair because there is a clear definition between the pink and the green. Also, the charming shape of the slice reminds me of a landmass, which looks cool! The secura-clips are similar to the lever-back earring style, but instead of just flipping up, the wires actually click into the lever. So, it is like a lever-back with a built in safety.

$495.

Sweet-Watermelon Tourmaline Slice Dangle Earrings with Triad Posts

These are sweet! They are tiny, delicate earrings. They are 14k gold. Many women can't wear ear wires, but still want a bit of a dangle. This triad earring is my solution. If you need a gift for a young woman, these would be an excellent choice. They would also be great for anyone who wants something delicate to leave in their ears all the time.

Party Pair-Watermelon Tourmaline Dangles

I'm sorry there is glare on the stones in this picture. This is a pretty pair with unique color and patterns in the tourmaline slices. The stones measure approximately 18.5mm x 10.5mm.
