Unusual Asymmetrical Smile Design
Ammolite is opalized ammonite fossil from Southern Alberta, Canada. It is millions of years old but wasn’t discovered until the early 1980s. This extremely high end piece of ammolite has the hardest to find colors of ammolite opal. The color is deep and royal PURPLE. It also has the second and third rarest colors of ammolite which are indigo blue and teal, respectively. The Ammolite is a whopping 27mm x 23mm long and is bezel set in 22k and 14k gold! Due to the unusual trapezoidal shape, I felt the ammolite needed something to visually balance out the lower corner and I chose a lavender pink freshwater cultured pearl. The pearl addition balanced the piece, but it still needed a little something…hence the facetted sapphire bezel set into the pearl. The smile bar is 14k gold. This necklace is strung to 18” on a durable synthetic string that moves like silk but won't shred, stretch, or fray like silk. It has a signed hangtag and a 14k lobster claw clasp. The stringing on this necklace is unique because the 18k bar makes the pink pearls become part of the pendant in the way they drop down with the pendant. The effect of this also gives the pendant added movement. A lot of jewelry is just ornament. I consider this special piece to be true art in precious materials. The facetted beads that compliment the rare blue in this ammolite are kyanite in the finest quality! It is strung with a 14k lobster claw clasp to about 17 inches in length (that is from the gold bar to the clasp.) The string is a durable synthetic fiber that moves like silk but doesn't stretch, shred or fray like silk.
